THE NYSSA GATE CITY JOURNAL THURSDAY, JULY 31,1941 Mitchell Butte William Toomb, Mrs. Clarence E Elliott and Harvey Holton met on Tuesday evening to make plans for the 4-H Club picnic to be held In Vale cn July 30th. Mrs. Glenn McGinnis who has teen visiting relatives hi Kansas and Nebraska far the past month returned Tuesday to her home. M s. Carl Paiker of Newell Heights was a dinner guest of her daughter Mrs. Arthur Caitwright on Friday. In the afternoon theyy dyrove to Nwssa and Ontario on business. Mrs. Claude Wilson and family and her house guests Mr and Mrs. Fred Wilson and family attended the celebration In Nyssa on Thurs day. Father Method of Mt. Angel Ore gon is visiting his brother and wife Mr and Mrs. Leu Com. Harvey Holton and his Kingman Kolony Parkers 4-H Club went to Snlvely Hot Springs for a swimming party Friday night. It was Kenenth Elliatt’s birthday so Mrs. Elliott served a lunch. The Mary and Martha are spon soring the Union Sunday School meeting and picnic on August 3rd. Suday School and Church will be held at Adrian and the picnic din ner will be In the Big Bend Park. There will be a program in the a f ternoon Everyone Is Invited to at tend and bring their own picnic lunch Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Cartwright were hosts at a picnic dinner for Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cartwright and family of Big Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Parker and family of Newell Heights and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Woods and family of the Kolony. Mr and Mrs. Charles Newblll and family returned on Wednesday ’ vening from a ten day fishing trip ot Diamond Lake. Miss Jeanette Martin and Mrs. William Toomb and daughters were In Caldwell on Saturday morning. Mr. ahd Mrs Sam High of New Plymouth visited with Miss May Beaumont and C. M. Beaumont on Sunday afternoon. T h e Kingman 4-H Assembly held a meeting at the sand hills on F ri day evening. Transportation plans were dis cussed for the annual picnic to be held In Vale on July 30th. Rev. Bradley o f the Presbyterian Church In Roswell was guest speak er In the Kingman Community Church. The Young People of the Christ ian Endeavor had charge o f the Church services Sunday morning. Raymond Darden visited relatives in Caldwell Sunday. M r and’ Mrs. Wm. Cooper were business visitors in Caldwell Friday. Zack Walker who has been quite ill at the home of a brother in W .iser was able to return to his home last week. The Russell Talbot and E. B. Smith families attended a birthday dinner at the Ewen Chard home in Oregon Trail Sunday. Mrs. Coulter of the Owyh?? com munity is taking a series of bathes for rehumatism at the Lowe Hot Springs. She reports to be quite improved. Clayton Kenneth Wall formerly of this community now of Payette, re cently received his civil aironatic license at Ontario. He was a guest o f the T. M. Lowes Thursday. Miss Charline LinnvlUe left Wed nesday for an indefinite visit with relatives in Oklahoma. Dunaway and Sons a'e the first in the community to thresh theii grain. Oip3 have purchased a new combine and have a larg run ahead o f them. Mrs. Ira Marrs enjoyed several days visit from her father, M Lovejoy of Nevada. Mr. Lovejoy is 37 years old. Everyone please keep in mind the P. T. A. meeting in August at Owy hee schoolhouse. The date will be announced later. Mrs. Don Knottingham and sons Paul and George of Sunset Valley visited Sunday at the John Knot tingham home. Clyde Mitchell returned Monday from a weeks visit in Lamed, K an sas. Mrs. Mitchell and Lorette stay ed in Kansas where Mr. Mitchell will again Join them in a few weeks. Mrs. E. B. Smith and infant son, Ronnie Joe returned to her home Thursday. Burl W yckoff and Irwin Topliff returned from Wallowa Lake Wed nesday after spending several days at the Epworth League Conference. Mrs. C. C. Wyckoff entertained the Out Our Way Club Wednesday afternoon. Miss Vera Orr was the only guest. Ice Cream, cake, and lemon ade was served. M i. and Mrs. Leslie Topliff and boys, Mr. and Mrs. Alva Goodell and children were among those present at the Chatter Box Club picnic at Gala Gardens Sunday. Nyssa Heights Mrs. G1 n Suiter received word of the birth of a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Hal Evans at Nampa July 16tli. Mr. Evans and Mrs. Suiter are brother and sister. The Nyssa Church of the Nazar - ene held their cottage prayer meet ing in the Dan Corbett heme F ri day evening. Mrs. S. P. Bybee, Garry and Col leen with Mrss Wilford Bybee and children returned home Sunday a f ter spending a week in Ogden, Utah, where they went for the Latter Day Saints Celebration of July 24th. Mr. and Mrs. John Bartholoma, Dorothy, June, and Johnnie, and Doris Beers attended the annual Chatterbox picnic at the Gola G ar dens Sunday, as did Mr. and Mrs. Glen Suiter and Clarence.
