DEMOCRACY IS NOT DESTRUCTION a few editors, writers, and other in N OT dividuals, keep harping on what'Democ racy guarantees in the way of organizations and free speech. An editorial comes to our hands which asks a few questions along this line— to which we humbly try to give an anwser. As to the query if it is thought that free speech should be denied such men as Harry Bridges and agitators. As long as any individual does not advocate the over-throwing o f our established government, they should lie given all the free speech that they want. BUT, if they are members of any organization who’s main purpose is the chang ing, by force of arms, or as it is popularly termed “ proletarian revolution,” then we say that there can be no such thing as free speech. The communists in Russia have a pet way of letting free speech have it’s run and then “ purg ing” the speaker! If these zealots for the com munistic form of government, or any other “ ism” form are so keen for a change o f govern ment, why don’t they go to Russia? Passports are not so hard to get. There are enough REAL Americans in these United States that are satis fied with our form of government, that we can get along very nicely without them. Free speech does not give license for advocat ing of the over-throw of any government, much less our’s. And if it is a mark of being un democratic for a nation to safe-guard itself from such “ boring within” then there is no such thing as a democratic form of government. THE MORE ABUNDANT LIFE? may more properly have T HE been following placed as a news item, but with the recently enacted “ trade agreement” with the British Empire (in which Uncle Sam, as usual lost his shirt) allowing MORE fram products into the United States, we could not help but feel that it would serve as an excellent editorial. A farmer, within six miles of Nyssa, sent his harvest of clover seed into Nyssa to be sold, with the following notation "I am sending in my clover seed crop. SELL IT, the best way you can. There is a threshing bill of 14 1U hours at $5 per hour— total $72.50, then an attorney has a labor lein for $66, the Farm Slavery Addicts (Farm Se curity Administration) has a mortgage for $2100, then take out your feed bill, the gas and oil bill, the lumber bill, the grocery bill and any others I may have overlooked, then take the bal ance and give it to the Jewish Immigration Fund. And if any o f the boys want to see me, I’ll be on the W. P. A. (if I can get on). (Ft. Seq ) The farmer above quoted received for 998 pounds of clover seed, the sum of $94.33. Who mentioned something about the “ more abundant life"?
