THE GATE CITY JOURNAL. NYSSA, OREGON. Talk lip Your Town A business house may spread itself over a whole block and may employ a hundred people, but the .average citizen will form his opinion of the firm through his contact with one individual. If the individual is rude or inefficient, it will take a lot of kindness to over* come the bad impression. It is likewise true of a town It doesn’t make any difference how large or how small a town is, to the visitor or transient or newcomer, if the individual citizen he meets, boosts the town and has a good word for it's people and it’s enterprises the newcomer will feel kindly toward the town. If, on the other hand, his informer talks down the town and belittles its efforts and it’s enterprises the visitor will receive just that kind of an impression and be subject to just that kind of reaction in regard to the town Talk up your town, tell vis itors of it’s good points. If there are men in town who are making a sincere effort to make a better town, give them cr dit for their work and effort, be liberal in commen dation. These things make a town bitter. They create an atmos phere that builds up and en courages and stimulates grow th and inspires eneryone in the community toward better effort. Talk up your town. FACTS SHOULD BE DISTRIBUTED FREELY With over a month’s investigat ing we find that Nyssa is very little known of a few hundred miles away. Nyssa would he a city of five thous and people if more people knew where it is and what is taking place in our territory. The fact is the people would like to know about us. There are golden opportunities here and more people would like to fini the ideal spot. More people on out farms and in our homes would hel] pay taxes, help keep up the appear ance of a flourishing city, help th> schools, help the merchants ani, help the new people wro would come. If California had a project half as great as th at around Nyssa, every state in the Union would be flooded with descriptive literature about it. As a Portland man told the writei Jast week, there is no place in all the world offering more to the be ginner or the s e tt'-r than Nyssa. 'Ha was referring t conditions, gov ernment ii 7 igatk>u work, climate and the chance to build a city at 'Nyssa. W e will do our best to let the world know, but a publicity cam paign right now would certainly be the proper rr >ve for this district. We know of no better place, wc know of no locality offering the op portunities that are here in NYSSA. NYSSA NEEDS. Nyssa needs more business build ings to rent -sure investment. Nyssa needs stags oonneetions with a betU. route with more towns from Ontario to Boise.
