Mr. Pheasant appeared on the scene and bang! went Mr. Kay’s rifle. Imagine his chagrin when the rooster gracefully flew away. After scouting around more pheasants were sighted and Mr. Kay carefully fired again and again. Results were the same but at this junture the traitors laughed and Mr. Kay discovered that the rifle had been loaded with blank cartridges.
