Allen and Mr. White last Saturday evening missed something that would have done them a great deal of good. The talks were along athletic lines as it being an athletic association affair. Both men spoke highly of the game of that afternoon and were glad that such a liberal patronage was extended to the Boys. In part Mr. White said “ This is your team, your boys and your school. Why shouldn’t you be liberal? Athletics is the s ta ff of school life and if the boys and girls can t have them at home they will go where they can have them.” This is,only too true and now that Nyssa has two teachers so fond of athletics and men that are as clean in thf; sport as these two there is no re ason why Nyssn should not have-a banner school. Mr, Allen impressed upon his audience the fact, that parents were not taking the interest in the school that they should. He said that only one ps rent had visited the school as vot this year. No, Because boosters are quite com mon in Nyssa, in fact we can say every one but one or two individu als are boosters. O f course there are different species of boosters and all are endowed with a differ ent quality and quantity of the progressive spirit. We all may have a different definition for a booster. Here is our definition of a booster. A booster is an indi vidual who is optimistic in his views of the future of the country, One who is very contented with his or her lot and is happy, One who does not listen to the pessi mistic views of the neighbor and does not contend that there is a better place on earth than the town and surrounding country that they might grace with their residence, Also one that is so well pleased that he wants his friends to come and enjoy the prosperity. One that is enthused with the spirit can not help but boost for the land of Sunshine and plenty. »♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦< been boosting business. The New Plymouth Sentinel man is very much swelled up about his daughter taking second prize in the Baby Show at the Malheur County Fair, and claims she looks just like him. We didu’ t see any little tot that looked like an editor, but then they all took second that did not take first. I Nyssa did not collect her samples until two weeks before the fair and a great many prizes were lost but then we are satisfied having taken about 40 of the blue ribbons in the horticulture department.
