Johnstons At Nordstroms R IKKFNFELD —M r and Mrs Everett Johnston visited at the Nordstroms Sunday afternoon Don Louisgnont of Helena visited at the Howard Johnson home Sunday Mr and Mrs Francis Nord strom were in Clatskanie last Friday. Mr and Mrs. Howard Johnson spent several davs in Portland last week on business and visit ing Mrs F T Johnston w ill go see her brother Paul on Tuesday and from there go over to Beaverton. Art Bellingham, E.T Johnston and son Steve and Shalmon Libel went to Chehalis on Sunday to a polled Hereford sale. Mrs Donna Knowles of Port land spent Friday night at the Duf’uis home She was on her way home from Astoria Forty-Nine Students Make Honor Listing Of the 223 students enrolled at VHS, 49 made the honor list for the second nine weeks of the first semester Twenty seven students made honors which consist of a GPA of 3.0(1 3.50. These students are, Candy Brunsman, Brad Belling ham. Huss Carroll, Kris Crow- ston, Pat Curl. Kathy DeWitt, Cheryl Dunaway, Rory Dun away, Scott Ellis, Cyndie Gal liano, Stephanie Gwin, Theresa Hopkins. Loren Kennedy. Kathy Kretchmer, Sandra Leonard, Debbie McLean, Stuart Munro, Amy Olson. Only two students made the principals list with a GPA of 4 00 These two students are Carol Evans, and Joan Holsey Four Honored By Birthday Potluck BIR K FN FFLD —On Saturday evening a potluck birthday party was held at the Birkenfeld Timber room honoring four 'birthdays all falling on the 18th Those honored were Mrs Jan Kyser, Vern Beshore, Francis Nordstrom, and John Ober Those there were the B ill Kysers. Francis Nordstroms, Vern Beshore, John Ober, Claude Kysers, Bob DuPuis, A1 Soderbacks. On Saturday the Brandts ana Grays drove to Mt Shasta in California then over to Reno They came back over the Willamette pass and found lots of snow They report a very nice trip They returned back home on Wednesday. Mrs Lehman of Fishhawk Lake goes into Vernonia twice a week to the Doctor to get his injured hip dressed He is com ing along good. Mrs Bob DuPuis drove the Mist School bus lor four days last week Mr and Mrs. Art Bellingham were in Seaside Sunday and visited her mother Mrs Elsa Richardson and Aunt Julia On Tuesday of last week Mr. and Mrs. Wall Tornblad visited at Wauna at the homes ot Mr. and Mrs Dave McGlothen and the Sanders They were dinner guests at the Sanders They had a real nice visit. Dr and Mrs. Gary Johnston and children of Seattle spent Thursday and part of Friday of last week at the Nick Berg home lephones had been manintained at near normal by management and supervisory personnel and that installation service is expected to return to normal within the week General's customers in East ern Washington, Idaho and Mon tana were not affected by the strike. Union employees in those areas are covered by a separate agreement. She goes in for a rth ritis treatment in her back and shoulder BIR K EN FELD —Mr. and Mrs Bob Hanherg of Astoria visited last Friday at the Tornblad home On Saturday the Paul Tornblads and children of Cher ry (Jove visited them and on Sunday the James Person’s and children, also of Cherry Gove came over and spent the night with them then went on to the beach Monday. Mr and Mrs Francis Larson accompanied M r and Mrs Her- bet Rodgers to Newberg Satur day evening to attend the wed ding of a relative, Larry Larson, son of M r and Mrs B ill Larson to Miss Tamara Haveman. After the wedding they visited Mrs. Paul Crow and son Dick at Newberg The Crow fam ily were former residents here several years ago They lived at Never stil. Mrs. E.T Johnston has been making regular trips to Forest Grove to see her brother Paul, he being in the hospital there He has been a medical and surgical patient He is coming along good. Mr and Mrs Llovd Beach were in Hillsboro last Monday for business and were in Clats kanie on Friday. Mrs Jim Watson's son Leon ard Demmer from the U S. Navy was home from Scotland, he spent the week with his folks, he left a week ago last Saturday for his new base at Norfolk Va Other company was Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Glick of Portland they stayed a few days. They enjoyed the nice weather at that time, and in the evenings played pinochle. Mrs Woodruff brought her home Monday and spent the night with her and her mother, Mrs Alice Mills. She also called on Mrs. Nettie Lloyd Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Heath of Spokane enjoyed dinner and a time of visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Buckner on Tuesday- Overnight visitors at the home of M r and Mrs. Claude Veal Sunday night were Mr. and Mrs Victor Dasher of Clear Water, Washington Mrs Karl Yoresen visited her son and fam ily Mr. and Mrs. W.K.
