Unit Added at The Dalles Dam An additional 100.000 kilowatts of electrical power were added to the capability of the Columbia R iver System the past week when Unit 15. »the first of eight new units being added at The Dalles Dam began producing power on Monday Lieutenant Colonel Neil Sating. Portland U S Arm y Deputy Dis trict Engineer, announced that Unit 16 is expected to be on the line later this week to add another 100.000 kilowatts of available electrical power to the Northwest system. The additional 200.000 kilowatts is equal to two-thirds of the amount of power which was curtailed for industrial use during the period of high demand the past week. Colonel Saling said Addition of the new units at The Dalles Dam was begun in M arch of 1970 under a $16 million contract with Halvorson-Mason Construction Company.
