The purpose was to im prove the appearance of the school. Bonnie Norm and, Carol Lehn, Gwen Persyn, and Sandi Hanson organized the group. Four groups of girls w ere a s signed to different areas of the schools. The girls started at one o ’clock and worked until it was done. When thev had finish ed their area they reported back to the high achool and w ere put to work pulling or cutting grass around hedges and sidewalks. A sm all group of girls w ash ed the windows of th e adm inis tration office. Another group swept the grand stands behind the school. Many passershy gave the girls strange looks while they w ere working in front of the schools. They now know what the girls w ere doing. I t was h ard work, but the girls en joyed doing it. Dave was born in Hillsboro on July 5, 1952. He has one sister. Mrs. Les Forcier. M echanics and especially ca rs are D ave’s favorites. Be cause of his interest in cars, Dave has taken several m echa nics courses throughout his his high school years. H e has a ca r of his own which he enjoys driving often. It is a 1956 Ford whose color shall rem ain nam e less in order to protect the guilty. Dave played on the basket ball team s at VHS in both his freshm an and sophomore years. Although he no longer is a m em ber of the VHS team s, he still enjoys w atching basket ball gam es. When Dave was in the eighth grade he participated in the class play. He states th a t the play was a special m em ory of his grade school years. A favorite food of D ave’s is shrim p, and one tyoe of food which he really dislikes is Chinese food Since he has worked as a m eat cu tter for a y ea r at C liffs M arket. D ave has be come interested in this profes sion. After graduation he is con- considering entering aopren- ticeshio as a m eat cutter and possibly m ake it his career. The Vernonia team won a berth in th e Oregon S tate A-2 golf tournam ent which was held May 18 and 19 at Glendoveer golf course in Portland. Al though the Timberline m ust go to press before the results can be known, a full rep o rt will be given next week. The team won th eir berth by placing second to Seaside in the d istrict m eet which was held Tuesday of last week. The Log gers finished with a four man total of 242, 14 strokes off the pace set by Seaside. L ast y ear the sam e Verno nia team consisting of Dave Sie delm an. Paul Nelson. Dan B ur ton, and John Knowlton took the second place aw ard at the state meet. These boys plan to equal their m ark, o r b etter it, at this y e a r’s tourney. Basketball Pictures Available to Students The pictures of the 1969-1970 basketball team s and cheer leading squads arrived last week. The team s and squads will be able to buy the pictures th a t w ere taken by Bruno Stu dios a t the low cost of $2.75 each. They a re colored pictures and come in a fram e which con sists of an individual picture in the oval p art and the full team o r squad in the rectangular part. The pictures are on sale to any individual th a t was on one of the team s or who was a m em ber of one of the rally squads. They m ay be purchas ed from the coaches o r cheer leading advisor.
