Skating Party Set for Youth A pre-rally ice skating party at the Lloyd Center Ice Pavilion will launch the Saturday night Youth for Christ program. Begin ning at 5:30, the young people can get their skates and at 7:15 will move over into the Benson high school where the theme of the rally is “A Look Into the Future." Opening the rally will be the pre miere showing of the full color Moody film, “The Professor and the Prophets,” space age uncan nily revealed in scripture. Dr. Charles F. McKoy, who at the age of 70 resigned his pastor ate in New York and left for In dia, will speak. Dr. McKoy, now 83, has just returned from anoth er term where he has ministered in Japan, Hong Kong, Formosa, India and Palestine, also in Soviet Russia and Yugoslavia. Witnesses to Cancel Local Meetings for Convention Robert E. Butler, Forest Grove, presiding minister of Jehovah’s Witnesses, announced that all meetings normally scheduled at the local Kingdom hall will be cancelled this week end in favor of the semiannual circuit assem bly in Portland September 22-24. Witnesses from Vernonia and their friends will gather with ov er 2000 others from the Tualatin valley and Portland. Well known to Vernonia resi dents is Edgar C. Kennedy, trav eling representative for t h e Watchtower Bible and Tract So ciety, who will speak on “Unit ing Men in a Split Up World” Sunday, September 24 at 3:00 p.m. at the David Douglas high school. All meetings are open to the public and are free. No col lections are ever taken. Dur ing the lecturer’s hour, James Smith and Arnold Tarbell were presented to the chair. Natal Grange Booster night will be an open social meeting at the hall this Saturday, September 23 at 8 P.M. John Crawford spent Saturday night and Sunday in Vancouver where he could be with Mrs. Crawford who is ill and in the hospital. He reports that she is improving ar.d hopes to get home one day this week. Woman Accepts Job in Portland MIST — Mrs. Ardys Hanson was home Saturday from Port land. She has accep:ed a position as receptionist at St. Vincents hospital. Mrs. Shalmon Libel entertained the Young Peoples club at her home last Wednesday evening. The hostess box was won by Irene Kyser. Next meeting will be in October. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hansen had as their guests last Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. A1 Becker and Mr. and Mrs. Reiser and children of Portland. Last Saturday visitors at the Charles Sundlands were Mr. and Mrs. Otto Wodtly of Portland. Mrs. Douglas Barr visited Mrs. H. M. Reynolds Sunday.
