Ross Solomon, son of the former couple who is in the navy, is on the U.S.S. Princeton which was sent to give aid in the Ceylon flood disaster. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lindsley of Springfield visited at the home of his grandparents, Mr and Mis. W J. Lindsley. Mrs. J. E. Rose, son Bob. grand- son Jackie Greenwood and Nina Sampson visited Mr. and Mrs. James Staight at Salem and M.. and Mrs. Derrel Rose at Spring field Friday and Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Merle Cline spent Christmas at the home of her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Meyer in Portland. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Lindsley, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lindsley and Mr. and Mrs. Verne Lindsley visited Thursday with Mr. Lind- sley’s sister, Mrs. Sadie Austin, who is visiting her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wagner at Cornelius. Mrs. Virgil Drorbaugh of Man hattan Beach, California visited at the home of Mrs. Claude Gib son last Tuesday. o Visitors at the W. J. Lindsley home during the holidays were Mr and Mrs. Doug Hibler and three boys of Eugene, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lindsley and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lindsley and child, ren of Springfield. They all spent Christmas day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Hunt at Sylvan. Mrs. Erlene Snell and Bud Penn of Portland visited Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Lloyd Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Wood spent several days last week with their sons and families: Mi and Mrs. Paul Wood and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wood in Portland. Livestock Group Meets January 7 Cattlemen’s Registration Extended To January 21 The registration’ deadline for Oregon cattlemen wanting to vote in the forthcoming beef commission referendum has been extended to January 21 by the state department of agriculture, indicates County Extension Agent Don Coin Walrod. All beef producers, including dairymen, are eligible to register for the voting regardless of the number of cattle owned. Cattle- men wishing to vote can register at offices of County Extension agents. To date owners of about 15 per cent of the cattle of Columbia county have registered, indicates Walrod.
