While visiting his wife Friday night, Mr. Merckling became ill and was taken to Good Samaritan hospital for an emergency ap pendectomy. Mr. and Mrs. Frank McCabe visited for the first four days of this week with their daughters, Margaret Thiele and Mrs. Tony Francis of Portland and Mrs. A. J. McKinnon at Sandy. Born Amy Lillian Anglesey on July 5, 1887, at C^llsfort, Utah, Mrs. Simmons was married to John Simmons April 11, 1905 at Labelle, Idaho. In 1909 they settled on a farm near Scio, Ore gon, where she was preceeded in death by her husband, 23 years ago. For the past 17 years she has made her home in Vernonia and was a member of the Latter Day Saints church, here. She is survived by four daugh. ters Mrs. Nonnie Zink, Juntura, Mrs. Melvin Wilson, Shevlin, Mrs. Albert Tunnell, Oakridge and Mrs. Robert Tunnell, Vernonia. She is also survived by four brothers: Ed, Walter, and Rulon Anglesey of Rigby, Idaho, and John Anglesey of Mill City; one sister, Mrs. John Whitman of Rigby, Idaho; eight grandchildren, one grandson. Melvin Wilson, who is serving with the United States Army in Berlin, Germany, and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Simmons leaves many friends and loved ones to mourn her passing.
