W. Erven last week end. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Messing accompanied Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Bridgers of Mist to Astoria last Friday evening to attend a ban quet commorating the centennial of the founding of the Astoria post office. That office was the first west of the Rocky moun tains. Fred Dusek and son Gerld re turned last week from Oklahoma where they visited after attending the funeral of Frank Kulak at Goose Creek, Texas. She arrived last week end from Albany where her home is located. During the visit she spent a short time at Dilley with Mrs. George Nutt. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Thomas have purchased the home formerly owned by Mr. and Mrs Frank Seelye on Washington street. Mrs. A..E. Jennings announces that she will be in Portland Sun day to attend a Townsend meet ing at the Kendell Townsend Community hall. Miss Nina MacDonald, daughter of Mrs. Frank McCabe, was a visitor here last week end with her mother. Mrs. Tressie Michener was in Forest Grove last Friday to meet her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Jack Taylor, and grand daughter, Judy, and grand son, Ross. They visit ed Mrs. Michener’s mother, Mrs. Nancy Wirth, who returned here for the week end. Visitors at the Michener home on Stoney Point over the week end was Jack Taylor. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Laramore were in Portland Sunday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Jack Penny, former Vernonia residents. Sgt. Whitaker and Mrs. Hansen and daughters visited at the Roy Brady and John Rosa homes Saturday night. Guests at the Brady home Sunday afternoon were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph DeVaney, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Bean, Portland, Art Miller, John Flocken and Weldon Wil liams, Astoria, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ritz. Mrs. II.. A. Jackson of visited her husband in a couple of days. Mr. is the druggist for the Drug Company. Portland Vernonia Jackson Vernonia Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cason of Portland attended the Little Dance Club Saturday evening and visited Mr. Cason’s parents the, Dan Casons, over the week end. Mrs. Bob Cline returned home Sunday after ten days at the Portland Sanitarium following a major operation. Bob Lester visited his wife and son in Astoria - Saturday and Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bobbie Olinger of McMinville spent the week end with their parepts in Vernonia, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Olinger and Bill, and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Graves and Maryin. Mr. and Mrs. Walt Veberes and daughters of Bay City visited Mrs. Veberes’ family, the Ralph Ald- riche'3, Sr., and attended the initiation of Donna Aldrich into the Order of the Rainbow Girls at a special meeting held during the Mason’s regular meeting on March 6. There were several distinguished visitors: Mr. Cal houn of St. Helens, Mrs. Ostland, assistant Mother Advisor, Mr. Brock and Mr. Connoly of Port land, former residents of Vernonia and also several visitors from Clatskanie. Refreshments were served and Floyd Bush and A. J. Hughes furnished musical enter tainment. . , Mrs. Bill Manning and daugh ter, Frances of Salem are spenil- ing a few days in Vernonia with Mrs. Mannings parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Olin. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cason of Portland attended the Little Dance club Saturday evening and visited with Mr. Cason’s parents the Dan Casons over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Lilly spent Tuesday in Portland and returned home in the evening. The Lilly’s recently received an in vitation to the wedding of Elbert P. Brock to Carolyn Jordon in Lakewood, Rhode Island, on March 15. Elbert Brock is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Brock, former renidents of Vernonia now living in Portland. Elbert Brock is teaching at McMinnville. After the weding in Rhode Island Elbert Brock and wife will return to the West Coast to live. Larry Marchall of Sweet Home spent the week end in Vernonia with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Dave Marshall. Mr. and Mrs. Hale Graves of Portland and children visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Graves and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Oveson over the week end. Margie Revenguh of Seattle, who has been visiting at the Bud Rose home, left Monday. Sister Hart and Sister Hender visited at the Polly Lynch home Sunday. Bill Dewey and Jean Malone of St. Helens visited at the Monty Dewey home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Monty Dewey and Dean attended a birthday party Tuesday at the Frank Wolfe home in honor of Artemus Rohr. Mr. and Mrs. Edi Roediger and family motored to Ocean Lake to visit Mrs. Sam Anderson and family over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Beldsoe motored to Portland Tuesday to spend a few days with her father.
