LET’S BE SOCIABLE Engagement of Daughter Told Mr. and Mrs. Nels Hogberg announce the engagement of their daughter, Dorothy Ann, to Pvt. George E. Capes, of the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Hood Texas. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Capes who reside on the O-A hill. No definite date has been set for the wedding. J.U.G.’s Meet with Mrs. Helen Smith The J. U. G. club met March 7 at the home of Mrs. Helen Smith on Keasey route for three tables of pinochle. High score was held by Mildred Brady, Isobel Culbertson held second and Mary Sawyer, low. Rita Lamping won the door prize. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostesses, Marie Shaffer, Mary Sawyer and Helen Smith. Mahar-Hendrickson Rites Read Sunday Afternoon Miss Lorraine Mahar became the bride of Mr. Jack Henrickson at an afternoon ceremony last Sunday in the Evangelical United Brethren Church with 'ijRev. Allen H. Backer officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Mahar of Vernonia and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hen rickson of Milwaukie. The bride was given in mar riage by her father. She wore, a white embroidered satin dress with a sweetheart neckline and full length train, Her fingertip veil was held in place by a headdress of orange blossoms, and she carried a cascade bouquet of gardenias, carnations and sweet peas. Mrs. Gerld Ball was matron of honor for her sister, She wore a light blue dress and car ried a bouquet of iris and car- nations. Mrs. Dorice Grice, sister of the bride, Miss Mae Henrickson, sister of the groom, Miss Mary Hall and Miss Maxine Hayertz were bridesmaids. All were attired in pink dresses and carried bouquets of pink car nations. Miss Donna Mahar and Vicki Ball, Inieces of the bride, were flower girls. ITPAYS 40 I hW * A • ' Annual Easter Egg Hunt Being Planned The annual Easter egg hunt is being planned again this year by the American Legion Auxiliary, to be held at the city park April 5. The Auxiliary, in announcing the hunt, is preparing the affair for children up to and including 12 years of age. There will be a Legion birth day party March 17 to which all members, their wives and friends, are invited. Refreshments will be served. The youth activities sponsored by the Auxiliary will be held Thursday night, the 20th, and all parents are asked to attend and bring their teen age children, • Friendship Degree Given Monday Evening 1 Some members of the Forest Grove Assembly, Girls visited the Nehalem Assembly Monday even ing. At the reception held in the social hall of the church, Mrs. Herbert Corder and Mrs. Bob Merckling, aunts of the bride, and Mrs. Donald Mahar poured. Miss Betty Corder and Mrs. Mae Hall served the cake. Mrs. William Carrigher, cousin of the bride, was in charge of the guest book. They received many lovely gifts.
