The grade county tournament is slated to start February 25, Coach Gordon said Tuesday, so the last few games of the sched ule are being played closer to gether than originally dated. The first round of the tourney will be followed by the final rounds on February 28 and March 1. • LOGGERS GET REVENGE TUES. Vernonia gained revenge from the Lewis and Clark college fresh men of Portland by defeating them 38-36 Tuesday, February 11. The Loggers were defeated by the frosh the previous night. The last few minutes of the game were action-packed, with the lead score teetering from one side to the other. With one min ute remaining in the game, the score wa3 tied 36-36 and the “Mayor of Pittsburg” Don Parker made a field goal to put the Log gers out in front 38-36. The freshmen made more field goals than the Loggers, but foul shots gave Vernonia the long score. Lewis and Clark made only two free throws out of 12 while the Loggers made six out of 13. Fouling was light compared to some previous games the Loggers have participated in. Vernonia committeed 10 fouls while the frosh made 13. Don Cline, local center, had to leave the game in the third quar ter because of an injured knee. Ken Anderson came into the Vernonia spotlight by going on a scoring spree and making 13 points. Vernonia was behind' two points at the end of the first quarter, 11-9 and also the half-time score was in favor of the freshmen, 18-16, but the Loggers retrenched and the third quarter ended with them ahead, 26-22. The Vernonia five had a two-point margin over the college men at the final whistle, 38-36.
