Thursday, Dec. 13, 1945 VERNONIA EAGLE 2 TOPICS OF THE TOWN Mr. and Mrs. John Frank Dickhaut Lange and daughter, Mrs. T. L. Dehart, left Monday for Californa, the former to vis it his aunt and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. W. G. English at Chula Vista and Mrs Dehart to meet her husband who arrived at Long Beach last Saturday morn ing. Mr. Lange will return here sometime before Christmas. left this week for South Dakota where they will visit his par ents. The trip will take them about two weeks. Mr. and Mr». Mike White and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Shafer vis ited the La France Rebekah lodge at Clatskanie last Monday evening and saw seven candi dates initiated. Mrs. Lulah Fullerton and Mrs, W. Mrs. Annala is a daughter of Mr. Messing. Mr». James Fluke left last week for Seattle to be with her husband who is stationed there. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kelling- ington and Lt. and Mrs. Clinton A. Pfc. Orville Britton of Sweet Home while on leave from Fort Lewis this week visited his par ents at that place and at the Bert Bassett home here. The secretary of The Friend ship club, Mrs. Ralph Mahar, in- B. W. Bassett writes his par ents here that he and his wife will leave San Francisco this week for a ten-day visit with rei- atives in San Diego at the close of which they will head for Riv erview to spend the holidays. We will have to blame the in clement weather for our tardi ness in reporting the arrival of two new families in Riverview recently. On the Chester Rice place we now have Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Brady who came from the Corey Hill district last week. They have with them their son, Lynn, who is adjusting himself to civilian life and their daugh ter, Shirley Ann, who is an em ployee at Safeway in Vernonia. And in the Ralph Cobat place, recently vacated by Mr. and Mrs. Lester Fletcher, whose depar ture we failed to note, we have Mr. and Mrs. John Coleman and daughter, Elsie Ann, who came from Portland about three weeks ago. A hearty welcome to all these new neighbors. The Cole mans will leave the middle of the week for Libby, Mont, where they will spend Christmas with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Monty Dewey helped Mrs. Anna Dewey and her son, Bill Dewey, move from Vernonia to St. Helens Sun. Bill has located a good job at our county seat. I have a good line of NEW toys for Xmas. At the close of a five week’s visit at the home of his sister, Mrs. Harry Kipp, Lawrence Zim merman left Sat. for his homo in Lusk, Wyo. Mrs. J. A. Wirtz spent Fri. at the R. C. Kenmper home near Forest Grove and helped her granddaughter, Margaret Jean, celebrate her third birthday.
