Linda Marie, six pounds, 4 ounces, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Long, April 20th at the Smith Hospital at Hills boro. Mrs. Dora Washburn returned Monday after spending several weeks visiting relatives at Sweet Home, Albany and Salem. At Sweet Home she saw her son and family Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wash burn, at Albany she visited Mr. and Mrs. Ray Buffmire; and at Salem she spent some time with Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Washburn. Mr. Washburn began operating a S^ell Oil station Tuesday and Mrs. Washburn is also working. Here Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kellington and daughter Joyce, of Hillsboro, Douglas Dick of Pacific univer sity and Helen Frank of Hills boro were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. H. II. Lolley, until her husband, Cloice Hall, returns from overseas. Mrs. Hamp Roberson was in Portland Tuesday to visit her son, Hamp, Jr., before his de parture for Sacremento to beport for duty again. Here for Week End Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Duerfeldt of Seattle were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hartwick. They attended the Junior Prom Saturday evening. Mrs. Earl King left Monday for Camp Hood, Texas, where she will be with her husband who will be in the hospital for sev eral week due to an infected tooth. Returns from Portland Mrs. Harry Culbertson re turned from Portland early this week where she spent several days with her father who under went an operatien. His recovery is satisfactory. Away 90 Days Mrs. Ray Mills is enjoying a 90-day leave from duties at the rationing office. Mrs. Harry Cul bertson is assisting with the work part of the time. The injury was caused when a swing struck the child. She will be there for the rest of the week. In Portland Mrs. James Emmons left early this week for Portland where she will remain for several days vis iting. Returning with her was her son, Dean Lionberger, who was here for a short time last week end to visit. He is sta tioned in Portland with the mer chant marine. Leave for Mississippi Sgt. E. V. Robertson, brother of Cleve Robertson, and Mrs. Cleve Robertson left Friday for Mississippi to visit relatives. Mrs. Robertson will remain there j month before returning. In Portland Mrs. Dan Cason and grand daughter, Karen, were in Port land Tuesday. Leaves for Bremerton Mrs. Herman Dickson left last Friday for Bremerton where she will visit her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Hutchanson. Phone 74 Car Breakdown Causes Injury MIST — Willard Ingerman- son had the misfortune to have his car breakdown near here and had to be towed home to above Vernonia. As he was near his home, he was looking the car over to see what was wrong, when the ear started to move and pinned him underneath. He was held until his wife came and released him. However, ho was not seriously injured. Mr. and Mrs. J. 0. Libel were in Portland several days last week with their daughter, Mrs. Ed Lindberg, who was operated on Thurs. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Jones were in Clatskanie Sat. Wm. Bridgers was a Portland visitor to see the ballgame last week. C. O. Hayden is putting a new foundation under his house. Irving Knowles ploughed a garden spot for Mr. Kerr on the Wikstrom property Mon. The Kerr’s mill will move on to the Wikstrom ranch soon. L. P.
