There are possibly six or eight of these manu facturers. These manufacturers are represented in each loca'ity by re liable distributors who 'buy 'rect from the manufacturer and must maintain an .Auto-Elective Servjre Station, employing skilled mechancis m the o'ectricUl and battery depart. ments. Batteries sold by these dis tributors are quality products. Pos sibly they C03t a little more to buy but have a very low operating cast. The average life of these batteries range from two to three years. Merchandising batteries are those sjld under two or three different ar.ial standing, tho ;same battery being sold under two or three different brands, usually on consignment, of fering profits of oO per cent to 3-cr cent. These firms are not re quired to maintain a service station and a.e only interested in the targe profit which they make when selling ono of these inferior batteries. These batteries cost less to buy but are very expensive to operate. The average life being about ten to eighteen months.
