"It gives me pleasure to write a word of endorsement of the subjects, purposes and work of the Salvation Army Rescue and Maternity Home of Portland. Oregon, fomerly known as the White Shield Home. This is one of the many worthy institutions in Oregon of a semi-private nature that receives aid from the state comes under state inspection supervision to a certain extent. Its field of labor is to assist erring girl, the forsaken mother, and the children nf both. County Club News Miss Helen Cowgill, assistant State Club leader, met with the lo cal cooking and sewing club leaders of Tillamook. and went ove* the work outlined for the year. Mias Cowgill had a number of articles made by sewing club girls all over the state. ' These included all the work required In Divisions 1 and 2. She also took up demonstration work and told what other clubs are doing in other places. Local leaders present were: Mrs. Blanche Hogan. Mrs Porter, Mrs Leila Doty, MrsM. IV.Earl, Mrs Lang tree, Mrs. Osella Schlmntlng, Mrs. Irma Embum, Miss Gertrude Brooks, Mias Flora Schild and Miss Lily Schild. Miss Cowgill visited the Cloverdale seating and cooking clubs, the Meds sewing club, the Hebo sewing and canning clubs and the Blaine tewing club, In the south of the country. She also visited a number of local leaders Including Miss Echo Thomas; Pleasant Valley, Mrs. Hopkina, Mrs. Bell and Mrs. Perry at Beaver, and Mias Reuseer at Hebo. Going north Miss Cowgill visited Balm. Mohler. Nehalem and Wheeler clubs. ( | At Wheeler the Cookery ( Club served a lunch to Miss Cowgill. Dr. and Mrs. H. E Rinehart. Mra. Hall aday.
