The campaign for funds for the
Salvation Army will begin on May
15th and last to and Inclusive of
the 20th of the month. It is said
that about twenty business men
will negage here in the work eof
securing funds for the Army, and
fraternal societies, schools and clubs
are asked to co-operate in the drive’.
The county will be divided into dis
tricts, and committees appointed in
each district, all under management
and supervision of a central com
mittee. The following endorsement
by Governor Olcott is reprinted:

"It gives me pleasure to write a
word of endorsement of the subjects,
purposes and work of the Salvation
Army Rescue and Maternity Home
of Portland. Oregon, fomerly known
as the White Shield Home. This is
one of the many worthy institutions
in Oregon of a semi-private nature
that receives aid from the state
comes under state inspection
supervision to a certain extent.
Its field of labor is to assist
erring girl, the forsaken mother,
and the children nf both. I have
heard nothing but words of praise
for the management of this Home
and its accomplishments. -

NETARTS SAWMILL HAS
BEEN STARTED AGAIN
The Neturts sawmill which was
bought by a Portland company some
time since, and which has been
idle for many months, began oper-
at Ions recently, with Connie Dye

of men.
The mill is on the old
Leland place on the Netarts

timber suitable for spruce boxes for

county, tnd during his stay here
assisted to organise. In company of
D. H. Kennedy, county leader, a calf

a pure-blooded Jersey calf to the
member of the club, who during the
year, files the best report of bla or
her activities. Mr Allen expressed
himself as being much pleased with
the work In this county, and regards
Tillamook aa one of the foremoet
counties of the state In club work.
While here he visited several of the
many clubs of the county, outside
of stock clubs, and found them to
be in a flourishing condition

News
Miss Helen Cowgill, assistant
State Club leader, met with the lo
cal cooking and sewing club leaders
of Tillamook. and went ove* the
work outlined for the year. Mias
Cowgill had a number of articles
made by sewing club girls all over
the state. ' These included all the
work required In Divisions 1 and 2.
She also took up demonstration
work and told what other clubs are
doing in other places. Local leaders
present were: Mrs. Blanche Hogan.

IV.Earl, Mrs Lang tree, Mrs. Osella
Schlmntlng, Mrs. Irma Embum, Miss
Gertrude

Miss Cowgill visited the Cloverdale
seating and cooking clubs, the Meds
sewing club, the Hebo sewing and
canning clubs and the Blaine tewing
club, In the south of the country.
She also visited a number of local
leaders Including Miss Echo Thomas;
Pleasant Valley, Mrs. Hopkina, Mrs.
Bell and Mrs. Perry at Beaver, and
Mias Reuseer at Hebo.
Going north Miss Cowgill visited
Balm. Mohler. Nehalem and Wheeler
clubs.
