Last Saturday morning when a little grandchild of grandpa Batzner went to call him for break fast, it was discovered that some time during the night, the grim reaper had visited him and life on earth had ceased. Mr. Batzner had returned at the usual time the even ing before in his usual health and unex- his death was entirely pected. He was born in Indiana 85 years ago in Franklin county, Grew to manhood and served throughout the Civil war in the 3d Indiana calvalry. He was the father of six children four of whom are still living, one daughter liying in Kansas and another in Missouri, While two. Mrs. Ed. Smith and Brad Batzner live here. A son was accidentally killed in Misouri about a year ago, and the other died in 1897.
