FANCY WORK AND ART DEPART MENT FOR THE LADIES The Steinbachs Entertain On Wednesday afternoon last, John Steinbach, of this city enter tained the officers of Silver Wave Chapter, O. E. S., which was given as a surprise to Mrs. Steinbach, who retires from office on the 27th Inst., and her offirial friends. The ladies were entertained with guessing contests, and fancy work was also a diversion, during the af ternoon. Hot rolls, salad and coffee were served t<5 the guests. Miller, Clarence Stanley, Stanley Coates, Roy Henkle Blaine Hays, John Steinbach. -a. »—r • In Balconv of Kins & Crehshaw Hece Is Christmas Suggestion Surprise Birthday Party Mr. and Mrs. Carl Haberlach were nigh: last, by the unlooked for arrival at their residence in this city of a num ber of their friends, who came pre pared to spend the evening, as 'evi denced by the way they took posses sion. The occasion was the recurrence of Mrs. Haberlach’s natal day, and the self-invited guests merrily pro ceeded to take charge of the even ing’s ntertainment, which mainly was devoted to ’’500’’. A very en joyable evening ensued, at the close of whieh the visiting ladies prepar ed refreshments consisting of sand wiches, salads, coffee, and chocolate which were served at the proper time. V Mrs. David Kuratli won the high prize at “500” and Mrs. Will Chris tenson the consolation offering. f Mrs. Haberlach was the recipient of many hearty congratulations on her birthday, at the close of the par ty. Mr. and Mrs. Gor don Burge and Mr. and Mrs. Haber lach. I agreeably surprised Monday L. V. Bberhardt has some Chinese lilies in tire window of the Watson abs raet office. They opened up about two weeks ago, and three out of four of the bloohns are double. The Chinese lily is a species of the Narcissus, and years ago, when the American laundries were not so numerous, and when the Chinese laundries were common, the Chinese proprie or« used to present I j their patrons with the above named liliee on New Year’s day, as a I present.
