The 97th Anniversary’of the I. O. O. F. was celebrated by the local i lodge on Wednesday evening at the Oddfellows hall, there being about I 300 present. Appropriate remarks were made by Bros. Youel, Raker and Henderson. A banquet was served which was greatly enjoyed by all. Delegations were present from all the lodges in the county. Bids were opened last week by the County Court for the Bar View road, which was washed out last winter. There was only one bid, that of the ; Tillamook Bay Const. Co., and as this was $8,000.00 «nd twice as much as the estimated cost, the County Court decided to do the work itself. This will be started at once, so ! as to have it finished by July 1st, which will be before the summer travel to the beaches commence. Both the bride and grdorn are well known in Tillamook and will make their home here. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. W. Business Men Will Organize. ----- o ■ Another attempt will be made to organize a new commercial club, and a meeting has been called for that purpose at the city hall next Monday. night at 8 p.m. In a petition which has been circu lated and which has been signed by a large portion of the representative business men of the city, it is stated that the united efforts of the business men is necessary and essential to the encouragement and development of the mercantile, manufacturing and dairying interests and resources of the county, and the signers of the pe tition have agreed to take an active part in the organization and main- tennee of a live business organiza tion. The city officals have offered two large rooms in the city hall to be used as club rooms, which will be ample room, and very appropriate for this purpose. All business men and others who are interested in the development of our community should forget petty differences of opinion and all get to gether in their efforts to boost our county and encourage more indus tries to locate in our city and county. Little Nestucca State Highway. Commissioner Owens, who return ed last evening from McMinnville, this morning informer the Courier that the state had adopted the Little Nestucca as a state highway. When asked about any improvement being made this summer, the commissioner said there would be about 13000 of county money and the same amount of state money that wov’d be avail able. Fairview Giants played a fast game of base ball with the Pleasant Valley team, Easter Sunday at Fairview, Pleasant Valley taking the game by a score of 4 to 1. Embum, the southpaw, held Pleas ant Valley to no hits until the 5th in ning when the bases were filled with no men down, but this was somewhat the cause of poor infield playing. One run was scored, and Blanchard was put in the box with the bases full and no outs. Blanchard pitched fine ball but there was poor fielding.
