Although not intended to be as expensive as the .ailroad wreck, the fire scene which :s also an important incident in “The <iods of Fate” very nearly equaled lhe cost of the wreck. For in this scene, director Jake Pratt who was producing the picture, burned up an entire manufacturing plant, this one incident necessitated the service of the lire departments of three town ships, the police reserves, and Am bulance corps under the supervision of Dr. Francis D. Patterson of Phila delphia. The Lubin Manufacturing Company having purchased the Ta- cony iron works, in which was cast the statute of William Penn which now surmounts the city hall, turned it over to director Pratt, who at once laid his plans for the destruction of the same. A. A. Arstill and John W. Fleck vs. Tillamook County is a writ of review filed in the circuit court this morning. Papers were served on lhe county by Attorney Webster Holmes, which is to review the action of the County Court in the matter of the J. J. Hud son road at Cloverdale. At the March term of the County Court in the matter of the petition bf J. J. Hudson and others for a county road, on the favorable report of the board of viewers, A. A. Arstill and John W. Fleck filed objections, but the County Court ordered the report of the viewers be adopted which gave the following damages: A. A. Arstill, $40100; Jenck Bros, $457.50; Charles Johnson estate, $22.10; John W. Fleck, $255.50. The County Court ordered the road opened and estab lished. Last week the Warren Construction Company had a force of men at work going over the Bitulithic pavement put in here by that company, making repairs where needed and sanding over places that had worn somewhat smooth. Whatever the faults of the Warren Construction Company may be it is clearly evident 'hat they be lieve in keeping up their paving and in living up to their contract which is much more than can be said of other paving concerns which have put in paving for Forest Grove.
