R. & N. for a fran chise giving them permission to lay two additional tracks on Front street. The electric light situation was referred to the streets committee. Councilman Sappington made a report in regard to where new walks were to be built. He said there were about 10 miles. The report was accepted and the proper notices were ordered posted. An ordinance was introduced to control the storage of gasoline, gunpowder, and other explosive materials, which was referred to the regular committees. Bids were opened for sidewalk lumber and the A. G. Beals Lum ber Co., submitted $K).5O for fir, and after this was read W. Hadley handed in a bid for $10.45. G B. Lamb called attention to the fact that the latter bid has not been sub mitted until the former had been read. Sunday School Convention. Beginning last Friday evening and lasting until the following Sunday afternoon there were five sessions of the Tillamook County Sunday School Convention held in the M. E. Church all of which was devoted to Sunday School work. Dr. C. A. Phipps, Inter denominational Sunday School Organ izer of the State was in attendance as was also Dr. Milligan of Portland, State Sunday School Organizer of the Presbyterian Church. Local talent assisted at all the meet ings and Dr. Phipps gave an address on Sunday School work at each meet ing. All of the addresses by Dr. Phipps were inspiring and full of good things to be considered by those inter ested in Sunday School work. Dr. Milligan was also of great assistance to the meeting. A County Sunday School Organiza- tion was formed and the following officers were elected : Erwin Harrison, President; Leo Ball, V. Pres.; Thomas Harrison, Sec. and Treas.
