The Mayor announced that he would appoint the committees at the next meet ing of the city council. The city marshal was instructed to file 1 a bond. J. A. Illingsworth was appointed spe cial policeman, whereupon the Mayor 1 1 appointed him street commissioner, and 1 the appointment was confirmed, his sal ary being placed at |l per month for 1 I policeman and $49 for street commis sioner. ! And would they know any better if thev did ? Do they look for the results of that mill work— the semi-annual dividends, and the price of the stock in the market ?
