We have not caught on to any Indian informa lion to that effect yet. But wouldn’t it jar u< all up if anything like that had to happen ? * * * A friend at our elbow suggests that the newspaper men of Oregon would better be careful what they do at the meeting of the State Press Association in Astoria tomorrow, lest the Federal grand jury indict them for organizing a trust. Not a hit of danger. Nobody ever heard ot two newspaper men agreeing for five minutes on any subject.—Observer * * W It is about time for those who want to get into public office to commence the process of grooming themselves, but it is well to give them a bit of advice if the political lightning does rot strike them at the primary election, not to turn them selves into political mules, knocking the party because they were not popular or thought competent to receive a nomina- ion. * * * Before the county decides to build a road to Bayocean Park, the Potter Uba pin Realty Company would do well to announce to what «mount it would give towards it. A road to the park will be a necessity, and with a beautiful drive around the bay it will greatly enhance the value of the park ami make it much more popular. Money talks. It is up to the p/omoters to help out and get the work started as soon as possible. * * * VV* have failed to see that anv money has been put up by the autoinoholists to build a boulevard between Portland and Tillnmnok Thereto no doubt that all the counties through which the road would pass will beglad to help. It means better wagon roads for the settlert. II is up to the Poitland automooolists to say to what extent they are ready to help and get the road constructed so as to be in shape for next year s travel. WWW Will anyone now undertake to dispute us that it was pettifogging tactics which w ere used in the Aldermen cases. Ami alter thousands ot dollars had been paid to experts But w hat about the 40 per cent commission in that notorious con- trm t, since Tillamook county has been knocked out in the courts at every point and hiisu’t a leg to stand on. for the whole affair appears to be outlawed ? That is what the taxpavers got bv not forcing the proper officials to look after the county s busiuHi. * * * What is the matter with the globes that they burn out so often, depriving the city of street lights ? 1 here is some thing wrong somewhere, for there is uo sense tn paving lor street lights when some of them are out most of the time, and if it is the globes, which have been a source of large expense to the city tor a number of years, tor a matter ol economy ami public convenience, this need* to be investigated by the city officials, for it would surprise a good many persons if the amount was totaled up that was paid ont fur globes the last five or six years. « « W Every once in a while we cnine across n pessimist who give» Tillamook count, the devil, dee» no need of h railroad and predict» that the log« will be taken to Portland and manufactured. Not much And in proof of thi. a» soon hi the rail road ia completed hundreds of sawmill», bo» factories and shingle mills will start up in this count,, and if the railroad tlors haul logs it will be principally to mills and factories here. The railroad is sure to foster mills and factories along its line.,(<it -here will he more money in hauling finished lumlier out of thecount, than there would Ire in hauling logs to Portland ft most be tier re racking for pessimist» in Tillamook to see how rap tdlv tin count, is developing. * * * Another large timber deal has just been closed, 1 ran»ler 1 ing to L B.
