But * * » a nee the next morning in the East. It is to be hoped that neitheqJudge Burnett nor Judge Galloway will allow a tempo rary injunction upon such trivial tech nicalities. for they are simply made to give the saloon keepers a new lease of life and to defeat the will of the people. * * * The fight for decency and the enforce* ment of the law may only he said to have jus*, commenced in Tillamook City. No one need be surprised, for most every town undergoes the experience of a spring cleaning as a result of the rottenness in city politics. Nor need any surprise be felt that the women of Tillamook City are going to take an active part, for by doing so they know they are safe-guard ing their homes and families from the vices which are allowed to be carried on in a citv where politics are “rotten.” It is not our intention to divulge at present all that we have heard as the result of ‘wide open’’gambling, for the weave of guilt is being wove around the guilty parties which may send them to the pen- itentiary. But it will require patience and perseverance on the part of the peo ple of Tillamook City to overcome the fierce opposition there is to law’ and order, and this in the interest of those who want to run gambling joints. W. N. Vaughn isn’t stuck very much upon ’‘Golden Cheddar’’ when he could n’t get the Golden Coin for his Golden Fluid. * * * It is strange how men will allow their little personal jealousies to control them in a city election. That should not cn‘ much figure when there is a principle in vol ved. * )k * The Headlight man don’t care one iota «as to the personnel of the city council il it will enforce the law and put a stop to the rottenness and bribery that have been going on lor years. * * * The saloons were closed up tight on Sundae. P.obably they had better re main so unless the proprietors want a complaint filed against them for every Sunday they remain open when the grand jury is called again, * * * J. S. Dellinger assumed the manage ment of the Astorian last week, with C. J. Curtis and Mr. Merrill, of Portland, on the editorial staff.
