TILLAMOOK HEADLIGHT, JANUARY 21. 1904, Rats ! Rats ! Rats ! the west will not only be able to take care ot its own financial requirements, but will continue to be a lender to the east. Western development is still going on and the resources of this section are far from being exhausted. There is, in short, a splendid outlook for the west and the energetic and enterprising people of this section are fully alive to this and can be depended upon to take full advantage of the conditions that make for progress and prosperity. 2,000 of whom are scientists, are en- gaged in this educational work, This department is a great educational insti tution, and it is seeking for bright men who can be taught how to tell the far mer what to do to improve his condition. Whenever a particularly bright young fellow who has graduated at one ol the state agricultural colleges is found the department tries to get him to learn what it is doing and thin go out and as sist in the general work of educating the farmer along the right lines. Condensed milk factories in the New Northwest are increasing. There are now in ofieration at Kent, Auburn and Chehailis, Wash,, Forest Grove, Oregon, Hillsboro, Oregon, and Mission, B.
