Timber Claims No Longer Held Up harbors committee to the needed im.

practice that has been in vogue for more
than a year past of suspending all en­
tries made under the timber and stone
act in Oregon, Washington and Cali,

tion, the Secretary issueduhe following
statement :
“ The order under which final action
upon timber and stone entries was sus-
pended has been revoked bv the Secretary
of the Interior, and all such entries will
now be acted upon in the General Land
Office in regular order."
This suspension served a good pur­
pose, and was the means of preventing
many fraudulent entries. While a rigid
scrutiny of all entries under this act will
be continued, it will have rhe effect of
allowing all valid entries to be patented.

Please allow me space to introduce
myself by saying that I am a pioneei of
1853, also an Indian war veteran, Com­
pany B, Boroz—Noland, of 55-56.
I assure you that I am not a claim
agent, but through kindness alone 1 am
doing all in my power to aid the old
Indian war veterans, their widows or
heirs, to obtain what is due them. In
the dailv Oregonian of August 31st can
be found a list of 635 persons, who have
money due them in sums ranging from
a few cents up to many dollars.
This money is due the veterans, their
widows, or in case of their death, then
the next of kin, and can lie obtained upon
application (without the aid of a claim
agent), to the Auditor of the Treasury
at the War Department, Washington,
D.C.
This money is evidently the wages the
veterans earned while in the service, and
when it is called for many war pensions
will be granted for the reasons that all
who prove their rights to this money,
veterans or his widow, will prove their
right to a pension, and it is to notify all
who are interested of the above facts,
that I have written a number of articles
like this, which through the kindness of
the publishers of the newspapers of our
land, have been the means of doing
much good. All the compensation 1 ask
for those who desire any information 1
can give is that they inclose stamps for
a reply. I have many monster rolls in
book form, dating from the Cayuse War
of 47’48 to the Rogue River War of 55-
56». These are at the service of all who
desire them.
In writing to me always give name of
captain if possible, but if this is not
known, send name of veteran and 1 will
do all in mv power to help those who
cannot help themselves. Also state if a
pension has been applied for, and in what
