Mr. Thornburg was here to gel a saloon license The Advocate is not likely to appear any more owing to attachments for rent, suits for possession and other financial difficulties It seems that the creditors ! her» are getting impatient ami the Port land firm that furnished supplies to the paper has not been paid for some time Mr. A. W. Severance is trying to get possession, Mr Handley doesn't seem to let go, and the Tillamook Lumbering Co. wants the rent for the building oc cupied by the Advocate. An effort is being made to issue the paper a few times, and it is not known if it will be successful. The Stoddards refuse to work and if the paper is issued it will be filled up with some plates and turned out to complete the publication of some legal notices. No doubt it will l*e taken by somebody ami published «luring the coming campaign however, as some as piring politician Is likely to want an or gan to boost himself into office. As a business investment, though, it is a fail ure. Its patronage has fallen off to nothing ami it is hard to support two papers here even if both aie managed well. You just can’t afford to do without it. This is no advertisement. Everybody almost in thia county are dairymen, and few of them are taking a good dairy or creamery paper. The H eadlight will publish articles from time to time from Hoard s Dairyman, but in making selec tions we do not know where to stop. We can’t reproduce the whole journal, ami can only advise you to get it—only /I per year. It tells all about creameries, dairies, cheese factories, milk tests, var ious breeds of cows, best kinds of feed, latest kinds of appliances and machin ery shows yon how to test the milk of your own cows, and has advertisements of all the leading Arms in the United States that furnish dairy machinery and supplies You can’t do without it. It will help every dairyman in this county, ami we are all dairymen directly or in directly. We want to see this paper taken here in order to see the industry developed. This is all. We offer club bing rates, but would prefer that yon send $1 direct to Hoard’s Dairyman, Fort Atkinson, Win. It will save us money ami benefit you. They have found that there is no “jingoism” about it, and that the Americans will bitterly resist any encroachment on American soil.
