The Tillamook Lumbering Company is building a two-story structure 20x32 on (lie tear of the H eadlight building. The lower story will be occupied by the com pany’« offices, and the upper story will be fitted up with offices, which will be to let Tillamook did a gieat deal of building last year on account of the file, and the burnt area « as rebuilt with much better buildings. But, this year, there is going to be more buildings than ever,the result of a healthy growth, despite hard times. The good work has already commenced, and at an early date we shall give a list and description of all the buildings pro posed and those under construction Surveyor General Byars has received notice from the land departments that the survey ofT. 1 S., R. 6 W , in Tilla mook county. While the rest of the country is com plaining of hard times, Tillamook is re covering from the financial crisis very fast, and money is more plentiful here now than it has l>een for the last two years. The H kadijgiit office has issued some placards, with business directory, de voted to the interest of Netarts seaside resort. They are attracting much atten tion, and like other advertising that has been done for Netarts, will be of mm li benefit Io that place. Other localities can get similar work done al this office. It is thought that the next legislature will pass a law offering a bounty of $5 00 each for lienr’s tails, and 50 cents each for rabbits tails. This will de done for the lieiiefit of the defeated candidal«•«, and those who collected sen lion’s tails for the bounty last year. In the proposed bill, the liear tails must Is* at least a foot long ami the rabbit tails four inches long, in order to secure the bounty. The Advocate is slow to find out Tom Coates is to be deputy clerk, and is greatly exercised for fear Mr. Coates or Mr. Swinton will be appointed, and speaks authoritatively for the democrats. Well, we can’t see why the Advocate need to worry as it opposed Goyne’s election. The republicans who helped elect Goyne are not bothering about it. But, the trouble is, the Advocate man wanted the appointment And, Mr Jackson and Mr. (ioodsperd are no doubt pleased t' know that the Advocate approves of the selection made for deputy sheriff Captain .1. .1. Dawson (Marko Polo,) being asked for his «»pinion on the Tilla mook county election, gave vent to his sentiments in the following manner: “Well, here’s to the female mayflower seed, planted in Vpril, watered in May, budded in .lune, and blossomed in July, with a sweet scented aroma, not pleasing to the olfactory nerves of Munchausen, who is forced to take a trip up salt river to the tune of “See the Vanquished He roes Leaving Port.” Phil Condet, of Seaside, has been awarded the contract for carrying the mail from Seaside to Hobsonville for the next four years. The contract calls for a daily mail, except on Sundays, ami four men will be required todothe work. Will Lace, of this place, and Mr. Ander son, of Seaside, will handle the route from Seaside to this place. It is not yet known who will do the work from here to llolisonville.—Nehalem Times. A certain smart Alexander w ho resided in Bay City became too glib with his tongue, speaking slanderously of several ladies in that place. Some of the good citizens provided themselves with a bucket of tar and a lot of feathers, ami gave the culprit notice to leave in 24 hours. He left, passing through this place Tuesday night
