The government has just paid claims for beet sugar bounties to the am:nut of 1215,404, distributed as follows: Nebraska, 852,974, Cal. ifornia, 8139,534, and Utah, 821,- 898. It would seem as if this fact ought to encourage the farmers of this county, than which none other is so well fitted for the growing of almost all root crops, to make an effort to test the capabilities of the soil here for the growing of sugar beets. Republican Convention. A Republican convention for the county of Tillamook will be held in Til- lamook City, on Saturday, tho 26th day of March at 10 o’clock, A. M., for the purpose of nominating candidates for the office of county clerk, sheriff, treasurer, commissioner, naseasor, school superin tendent, surveyor, coroner, and to choose four delegates to the state convention, and to transact such business aa may properly come before the convention.
