The successful applicant would fulfill the remainder of the term, which expires in Feb- ruary 2010, with the potential for re-appointment to another term through February 2014. Qualified individuals can ap- ply for this position by submit- ting an application to ODFW by 5:00 p.m. on May 31, 2007. This position is different than, and in addition to, the recent openings announced for the Fish Screening Task Force. The Fish Passage Task Force is a citizen advisory group created by the 2001 Ore- gon State Legislature. The Task Force generally meets quarterly at various locations throughout the state to advise ODFW, the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission, the Legis- lature, and the Governor on fish passage issues. All ex- penses associated with these meetings are paid by ODFW. The Task Force is comprised of nine members representing fishing and conservation (3), water users (3), and the public- at-large (3). The ODFW Direc- tor appoints Task Force mem- bers to four-year terms, with a two-term limit. After the deadline, applica- tions will be reviewed by ODFW staff, interviews may be conducted, and a recommen- dation will be made to the Di- rector for the position. The new Task Force member is expect- ed to be appointed in July. Bike ride is a family friendly event From page 1 adventure and celebration events offered throughout town and at Cedar Ridge Retreat Center on Saturday. Families (up to 4 members) can register for $75 and receive t-shirts, lunch, local activities, dinner at Cedar Ridge and an evening of celebration. Local cyclists can also register for the one or two day ride options. Individuals and groups are encouraged to form teams as they participate in this event. Community sup- porters who would like to join in the evening dinner and cele- bration can join in for $15 each. Money raised by Vernonia teams will support local pro- grams providing wellness serv- ices and activity-based support programs for cancer survivors and their families. Mothers March Against LNG, May 20 People worried about the hazards of liquified natural gas (LNG) on the Columbia River are invited to the Mothers March Against LNG on Sunday, May 20 at 1:00 p.m. starting from the Blue Scorcher Bakery Café at 1493 Duane Street in Astoria. Area women will speak about the safety, economic, and environmental risks from the proposed LNG terminals in Warrenton and at Bradwood Landing, about 38 miles from the Columbia River bar. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative NO LNG hat contest. Marchers are encouraged to carry banners and sing along with marching musicians. This is a family-friendly event with everyone invited to participate. LNG is natural gas extracted from gas fields overseas, super- cooled, and shipped to termi- nals. The proposed 55-acre ter- minal at Bradwood Landing will store liquified natural gas deliv- ered by 900-1200 foot LNG tankers three times weekly. their new Vernonia Branch on Friday, May 18.
