Job rate unchanged Columbia County’s season- ally-adjusted unemployment rate was essentially un- changed at 5.7 percent in April. The rate was about the same as the statewide rate of 5.5 percent but higher than the na- tional rate of 4.7 percent. Total employment in the county rose by 106 from March and the number of unemployed people decreased by 68. Total employ- ment was 21,800 in April and 1,308 people were unem- ployed.
