Page 14 The INDEPENDENT, August 21, 2003 More than 22,000 people at the Fair The 2003 Columbia County Fair & Rodeo was the “Best Stop on the Trail” for over 22,000 people who attended July 16 through 20. Attendance was down from last year, which may have been the result of both a record heat wave and the economy, but overall, the fair was a success. The number of exhibitors was up, for a total of 4,645 4-H and Open Class exhibits. Eleven Champion Ribbons, 12 Reserve Champion Ribbons and 1,056 Blue Ribbons were awarded in Open Class.
