Rain is cold or w a rm . Rain is necessary, rain is nice. It makes necessary putting on dirty shoes and gloves, heavy pants and rain gear to slog and tromp in the grass (which is, in some spots, knee high) to try and find that beautiful yard you had last fall. Kill the dandelions, if you can. They have 12" to 14" stems by now and have eaten all the good stuff left in the ground last fall. The lawn mower choked a dozen times and my “Grass Hog” died, but I’ve a quarter ton of grass clippings - I’m bushed. Three days later, I’m still raking grass and weeding my fern beds - found one tulip and some wild hyacinth. Guess what? My mind is a Ralph, Beryl Lohr celebrate 50th BMCS U.S. Navy Ret. Ralph D. Lohr, formerly of Richmond, Mich., and Beryl N. Hughes Lohr, formerly of Sarnia, On tario, Canada, will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniver sary on May 16, 2003. The couple met in New York, in June of 1952, while he was on leave and she was on holi day with friend. They spent the day at Coney Island and, less than a year later, they were married. The Lohrs have four daugh ters, Cynthia Crothers of Mari na Del Ray, Calif., Denise Ax- worthy of Hayward, Calif., Cheryl Lohr of Covina, Calif., Wendy Manuel of North Plains; one son, Robert of Nevada City, Calif., ten grandchildren, cite cot diaíly BLANK (nothing new for me, really). I think this is a new twist on a sort of scam (does that make sense?). I received a let ter thanking me for a donation to a particular cause, hoping I will continue to support them now in time of need. Now, I have never heard of the organ ization, didn’t send them any thing, ask any questions of them, nor send money, so I do not have a lapse of memory and I do not intend to bite. Don’t you bite, either, by think ing you forgot when you pur posely didn’t contact someone. Oh, and by the bee, I’ve re ceived only two calls since the end of March, so, thank you to the State for doing the paper work on telemarketers for me. A short movie review com ment on “The Vernonia Inci dent." I finally got to see it in my home. Wish I hadn’t. Vernonia should not be proud for being chosen for such a film. Young men lusting for blood and may hem and making the adults look lik e _______ (you fill in the blank) and sounding like they didn’t know how to talk. Julie lives and works in Vernonia and Chris works in Portland and lives in Vernonia. The couple is planning a winter wedding. three great-grandchildren, and two very loved Bulldogs, Chief and Misty. Timing is everything "I came to Jennings McCall almost 2 years ago. ft was natural because I had so many friends here I love the sense of not being surrounded by anything but sky and clouds when I look out my window, and I love all the oak trees. Time goes fast here. There is always something to do or a good book I need to read I enjoy the people, the activities and the lively conversations. I still volunteer at Valley A rt and play bridge with the same group I've played with for years. VJe all know everyone rises kids. And, I’m still active with my church's women's lowship I'm sure living at Jennings McCall was the right choice and that it was the right time in my life to make that choice."
