It has recently been purchased for use by Holce Logging Co., Inc., and Randall Holce, C.P.A. but, before they move in, Holce said, “Once was enough,” and had the building elevated. In ‘96, Holce experienced the same kind of flood cleanup as manager of the Vernonia Federal Credit Union. Photo on left shows the new elevation. ODF sets four public hearings on public/private land exchange Four public hearings - in four counties - are planned March 11-12 to consider a pro posed Oregon Department of Forestry land exchange that would consolidate state forest lands and facilitate the creation of a new state park in Washing ton County. Other counties with lands af fected by the exchange are Tillamook, Clatsop and Colum bia. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department and Longview Fibre Company are also participating in the pro posed exchange. The exchange involves 19 parcels totaling 3,691 acres of state-owned land managed by ODF, nine parcels of Longview Fibre land totaling 3,519 acres and 12 parcels of Oregon State Park and Recreation land total ing 1,341 acres. First Ave., Hillsboro. • March 12, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m , Clatsop County Court house, Nehalem Conference Room, 749 Commercial St., As toria. • March 12, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tillamook County Court house, Commissioners Meeting Room, 201 Laurel Ave., Tillam ook. The public comment period will be March 11 to April 11. Comments should be sent to Patty Cate, Oregon Depart ment of Forestry, 2600 State St., Salem, OR 97310. The hearings officer will is sue a report after the hearings and the comment period. County commissioners from each of the four affected coun ties are expected to hold meet ings and consider the ex change in the spring and sum mer. If all of the county com missions give approval, the ex- change will go to the Board of Forestry and the State Land Board for consideration. Third-party assessments have been done for dollar valu ations and for sensitive plant, fish and wildlife habitats. ODF district recreation specialists have assessed recreational values. These reports are avail able on the ODF website, and copies may also be obtained from Patty Cate. The proposed exchange of lands follows: Longview Fibre transfers 3,519 acres to ODF (represent ing the Board of Forestry and the State Land Board), which passes through 1,473 acres to State Parks.
