Once was enough,” once flooded building achieves new heights
After the flood of 1996 rendered this Grant Avenue
office building unusable, it was completely reno
vated. It has recently been purchased for use by
Holce Logging Co., Inc., and Randall Holce, C.P.A.
but, before they move in, Holce said, “Once was
enough,” and had the building elevated. In ‘96,
Holce experienced the same kind of flood cleanup
as manager of the Vernonia Federal Credit Union.
Photo on left shows the new elevation. Construc
tion of the new foundation is under the direction of
local masonry contractor Loren Dennis, shown
above with his back to the camera.
ODF sets four public hearings on public/private land exchange
Four public hearings - in
four counties - are planned
March 11-12 to consider a pro
posed Oregon Department of
Forestry land exchange that
would consolidate state forest
lands and facilitate the creation
of a new state park in Washing
ton County.
Other counties with lands af
fected by the exchange are
Tillamook, Clatsop and Colum
bia. The Oregon Parks and
Recreation Department and
Longview Fibre Company are
also participating in the pro

The exchange involves 19

state-owned land managed by
ODF, nine parcels of Longview
Fibre land totaling 3,519 acres
and 12 parcels of Oregon State
Park and Recreation land total
