The INDEPENDENT, November 7, 2002 Page 11 Class of ‘03 sets Fall Carnival at WGS National essay contest for students A Fall Carnival will be held on Saturday, November 16, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the Washington Grade School gym. Sponsored by the Ver nonia High School Class of 2003, there will be several ac tivities for children, including a cakewalk, face painting, free Letters About Literature, a national essay contest, invites students to write a letter to an author, living or dead, explain ing how that author’s work changed the student’s way of thinking about the world. The contest began October 1 and throw contest and much more. There will also be Bingo for adults. Proceeds from the carnival will help raise funds for the an nual senior class trip to South ern California. For more information, call Beth Kintz at 503-429-7042.
