______________________ ____ __________The INDEPENDENT, September 19, 2002 “Punk, Rotten and Nasty” author will speak at Banks Public Library The history of the Pacific Railway & Navigation Co. has been thoroughly documented in a book by local author Paul Michael Clock, who will speak at the Banks Public Library on Thursday, October 3, at 7:00 p.m. Clock’s book, Punk Rotten & Nasty, tells the story of the con struction of the railroad line now known as the Port of Tillamook Bay Railroad, includ ing interesting details about towns that sprang up as the rail line advanced. Pacific Railway & N avigation (PR&N) was dubbed “Punk Rotten & Nasty” by the men who worked on it because of its many blind curves and high risk in an area often foggy and wet. Clock’s presentation will include slides of some photos that were not included in the book. Copies of the book will be available for purchase in paper back as well as a commemora tive signed and numbered hardbound edition.
