Vernonia, said at the meeting that she initially had some con cerns about providing ade quate drainage and being able to free a city employee to par ticipate just before Jamboree. However, since ODOT com pleted all of the grading, she said that it was important to take advantage of the opportu nity to train city personnel and support the school district. Sykes said in an interview after the board meeting, that the project was the beginning of a great collaborative relationship between the city and the school district. This type of project cre ates opportunities to save the taxpayers’ money, while ac complishing projects that bene fit the community as a whole, according to Sykes. The cost of the camp is $45 for high school students and $25 for junior high school par ticipants.
