Ruth Bell of Vernonia was named Queen of the My Fair Lady court at the Columbia County Fair, on July 17. Bell is also president of the Vernonia Senior Citizens. The annual pageant, which recognizes the contributions of older women, includes five Princesses selected by the senior citizens centers in Scap poose, St. Helens, Rainier, Clatskanie and Vernonia. This year’s princesses, in addition to Bell, are Pearl Safransky of Scappoose, Ge neva Shadley of St. Helens, Joyce Marchant of Rainier and Deloris Clark of Clatskanie. Diane Dillard, of St. Helens, was emcee for the pageant. Judges were Frank Weber of Scappoose, Loren Tarbell of St. Helens, Phil Derby of Rainier, Ted Grove of Clatskanie and Janelle Serafin of Vernonia.
