Interment was in Union Point Cemetery in Banks. Mr. Spenst was born August 29, 1920, in Langdon, N.D., to Henry H. and Nettie A. Ratzlaff Spenst. In 1931, they moved to Minot, N.D. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He moved to Banks in 1951 and operated a Mobile service station and heating oil distributorship from 1961 to 1989. He moved to Forest Grove in 1988. In 1943, he married Emily E. “Con nie” Mack. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1998, four brothers, and a sister. Survivors include two sons, Clifford M. of Yuma, Ariz., and Terrence L. of Timber; a daughter, Sandra L. Fast of St. Helens; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. They lived in France and Belgium until moving to Canada in 1957. In 1963, they moved to Portland and, in 1971, to Banks. Mrs. Lamberts worked as a nurse. She was a member o, the Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991, and a brother. Survivors include a son, John of Sidney, B.C., Canada; two daughters, Esther Elston of Kelso, Wash., and Claudine Garcia of Bend; two sisters, Jeanne Christ and Georgette Zuin, both of Strasbourg; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. LAMBERTS Irene M. Lamberts, 74, Banks, died December 26, 2001. A funeral was held January 2, 2002, in Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home in Forest Grove. In terment was in Union Point Cemetery in Banks. Mrs. Lamberts was born July 23, 1927, in Strasbourg, France, to Charles and Martha Biernath Schroetter. She STEVEN JOHN LARSON Steven John Larson, 40, Vernonia, died January 8, 2002. A Celebration of Life will be held January 19 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cedar Side Inn, 756 Bridge Street, Vernonia.
