Pacific View Memorial Chapel han dled the arrangements. PETER T. DENIKE Peter T. Denike, 60, Manning, died November 18, 2000. A memorial ser vice was held December 3 at Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home in Forest Grove, with Jim Sitzman officiating. A Flag Honor Presentation was under the direction of American Legion Washing ton Post #2 in Forest Grove. Private in terment was held. Mr. Denike was born April 29, 1940, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Kelvin He was preceded in death by a sis ter, Priscilla Bogema. Survivors include his wife; a daugh ter, Lara Elizabeth of Manning; a son, David T. of Beaverton; three brothers, Kelvin of Scottsdale, Arizona, Robert of Stateline, Nevada, and Don of Min neapolis, Minnesota; one sister, Judy Flynn of Scottsdale, Arizona. Remembrances are suggested to the Audubon Society of Portland, 5151 NW Cornell Road, Portland, OR 97229 or to the Banks Community Library, 111 Market Street, Banks, OR 97106. He joined the United States Navy and served for four years until being honorably discharged in 1964. He then attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated in 1970 with a degree in Business Administration. Mr. Denike married Frances E. Kooken in 1973. They lived in Aloha and Beaverton until 1980, when they moved to Manning. He worked as independent repre sentative for several hardware stores, seven years for Intel, and then in com puter sales and service. Mr. Denike was a member of the Willamette Valley Soaring Club. WARREN “LES” SCHLEGEL Warren Lester Schlegel, 80, Welch es, died November 20, 2000. A private family memorial service was sched uled. Mr. Schlegel was born January 24, 1920, in Banks, to Edwin and Lura (Williams) Schlegel. He was raised in Banks, and graduated from Banks High School in 1938. He attended Oregon State Univer sity for two years then was drafted into the U.S. Navy in 1942. He was dis charged in 1945. In 1947, he married Mary G. Tail- man. They lived in Forest Grove. Mr. Schlegel was owner/operator of Tualatin Valley Plumbing and Heating until retiring in 1974. They then moved to Seattle to live on their boat in Lake Union. He was preceded in death by his brother, Irwin Schlegel. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kip Anderson of Sun River and Warren of Nehalem; a daughter, Cassie Kottkamp of Bend; a brother, Bob of Forest Grove; five grandchil COLUMBIA ROAD & DRIVEWAY. Memorial services were held November 30, 2000, at the First Baptist Church in Vernonia, with Pastor John Cahill offici ating. Mrs. Harmon was born January 16, 1927, in Charlotte, Michigan, to Max Hughes Keeler and Bernice (Pettit) Keeler. She was raised in Charlotte and graduated from Charlotte High School in 1945. She attended Michigan State University, receiving a bachelors degree in Business. In 1948 she married Thomas Otto Harmon. They lived in Tonawanda, New York; Freeland, Midland and Marysville, Michigan. In 1993, Mr. Har mon passed away and she moved to Vernonia. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vernonia, the Ver nonia Senior Center and the American Legion Auxililary. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Patti Pettit Harmon. Survivors include two sons, Thomas O. of Freeland, Michigan and Steve of Vernonia; and six grandchil dren. Remembrances are suggested to the Mary Lou Harmon Memorial Fund, c/o First Baptist Church, 952 Washing ton Avenue, Vernonia, OR 97064. Private fami ly services were scheduled. Mr. Buckner was born January 13, 1911, in Boone, Missouri, to David S. and Artie (Whillhite) Buckner. He grew up on a farm near Liberal, Kansas. In 1931, he married Alice T. Rundell in Ellensburg, Washington. He moved to Vernonia as a young man and worked as a mechanic at the mill in Vernonia. He later owned and operated Valley Garage. He also worked as an independent trucker and retired as a mechanic from Crown Zellerbach in 1969. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include three sons, Max of Vernonia, Jerry of Douglasville, Georgia, and Linn of Vernonia; one brother, Walt of Ukiah, California; one sister, Alama Bond of Seaside; three grandchildren and four great grandchil dren. Fuiten Rose & Hoyt Funeral home of Vernonia was in charge of arrange ments. FREDRICK EUGENE DONEGAN Fredrick Eugene Donegan, 31, died November 8, 2000. No services were held. Disposition was by cremation. Mr. Donegan was born April 27, 1969, in Portland and was raised in Vernonia and Aloha. He attended Alo ha High School, then moved to Port land and worked as a landscaper. Survivors include two sons, Gage and Cameron; his mother, Delores; and one sister, Stephanie.
