Hoeye will be sign ing his first novel Time Stops For No Mouse, published by Terfle Books. Time Stops For No Mouse, a young adult novel, is the ad venture of Hermux Tantamoq, an ordinary, but likeable city mouse. Hermux is a watch maker who finds himself up to his whiskers in mystery over the disappearance of a beauti ful young mouse. Before the mystery is solved, Hermux will have to outrun a squad of ruth less lab rats and travel to the deepest jungles of Teulabonari. Hoeye rates this novel “not too scary.” The St. Helens Book Shop is located at 1550 Columbia Blvd., St. Helens. This event is free and open to the public. The public will be invited to attend the events scheduled to celebrate the opening of the impressive facility. There will be free public tours scheduled and under budget. The jail is scheduled to open in January, 2001. County officials started the effort to build a new jail three years ago because the old jail is overcrowded and the county is forced to release criminals early. Agreeing with the recom mendations of a Citizens Com mittee appointed by Hyde and Derby, Columbia County voters passed a $13.9 million bond measure in 1998 to build the new jail. Construction started in August, 1999. There will be charge for the party and Bed & Breakfast. All proceeds will be donated to the Columbia County Women’s Resource Center or the Colum bia County Food Bank. The Women’s Resource Center provides services for domestic abuse victims. The Food Bank provides food and basic sup plies for low income county residents. Now... Pellet Stoves in Stock! Wood Pellets “Columbia County residents should be very proud of their county employees, particularly those in the Sheriff’s Office, who have managed jail con struction so well," said Com missioner Hyde. “We never lost sight of the fact that county taxpayers are paying for this project. Working as a team with the contractor and the management firm, we have built a safe, quality facility for both day and evening hours, a Jail House Rock bash and even a Jail House Bed & Breakfast. All events are tenta tively scheduled for December. The Jail House Rock Bash will include live music and a jail house meal. Those wishing to spend the night can stay overnight at the Jail Bed & Breakfast, which includes din ner, breakfast and mug shots. Commemorative shirts will also be available.
