The INDEPENDENT, October 18, 2000 PCC offering A.A. degree from Columbia County PCC announces an extend ed program of course offerings in Columbia County, which will make it easier for residents to obtain a two-year Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer (AAOT) degree. The A AO T degree guarantees graduates ju n io r status at any Oregon university and at most private four-year colleges and universities. The PCC Columbia County College Transfer Program, will combine college credit classes in St. He lens with distance education classes accessible from home, plus selected courses at the Rock Creek Campus. “We think this will help C o lumbia County residents plan their coursework and also keep the campus com m ute to a m in imum ,” said Bill Christopher, executive dean of the Rock Creek Campus, who worked with a Colum bia County citi zen-advisory group to put to gether the new program. The program is designed so stu dents can plan their academic program around hom e and work. PCC is hosting an open house to celebrate the begin ning of the new program on Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the PCC St. He lens Center, 1510 St. Helens Street.
