The INDEPENDENT, July 5, 2000 Batwaan thaBookends By Sheila Davis for Cecelia Sadtler Banks Library Volunteer Sign-ups continue for the Summer Reading Program at the Banks Public Library. Participa tion in the program is open to all kids, even pre readers are elligible and may partner with par ents or older siblings. After August 1, all kids who meet the reading goals they set for them selves can turn in their reading records and choose an award book. The Summer Reading Program provides an excellent opportunity for developing and maintaining good reading skills over the summer vacation. Henny Penny’s Trip to the Moon will be the featured performances on Thursday, July 6, at 2:00 p.m. in the Library Community Room. Pup peteer Celeste Rose returns with a new show that guaranteed to entertain young audiences. Watch this column for future announcements of performances or stop by the Library to pick up your summer schedule.
