NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ANNEXATION OF PROPERTY TO THE CITY OF VERNONIA, COLUMBIA COUNTY, OREGON Public Hearings will be held on the 20th day of January, 2000 at 6:30 PM, before the City of Vernonia Planning Commission and on the 24th day of January, 2000 at 6:30 PM, before the City Council of the City of Vernonia, Oregon on the question of an nexation of certain real property to the City of Vernonia. The fa m ily m oved to Vernonia w hen he w as 13, and he a t tended Vernonia High school. He served in W orld W ar II in the U.S. A rm y Air C orps as an a ircraft m e chanic w ith the 832nd Bom b S quadron in England, becom ing a squadron chief by the end of the war. H e w as d is charged in 1945. He m arried N ecia Evers in 1950, at W alla W alla, W ash. T he y m ade their hom e in the K easey area o f Vernonia. He w orked for B irkenfield B rothers Logging Com pany, after high school, th en fo r O re g o n -A m e ric a n L u m b e r Com pany. W hen he returned from the service, he w ent to w ork again for O re gon-A m e rica n L um ber C om pany. In 1957, he w ent to w ork w ith Pettijohn Engineering Com pany, and in 1962, he w ent to w ork on the survey crew for C olum bia County. He retired in 1979. He w as preceded in death by a sis ter in 1983, and a brother in 1986. Interm ent w as in Union Point C em etery, in Banks. Mr. E ndecott w as bom Jan. 30, 1930, in Banks to Ernest E. and Edna I. (C ason) Endecott. He graduated from Banks High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army, 167th Infantry 31st Division, during the Kore an War. In 1956, he m arried Barbara J. Pentico in Forest Grove. They lived in Banks until m oving to Hillsboro. They returned to Banks in 1992. Mr. Endecott attended C lark C oun ty C hef School in Vancouver, W ash., and ow ned and operated The Dinette in H illsboro and H illsboro C atering for several years until his retirem ent in 1974. He had also w orked on the W ashington C ounty road crew. Survivors include his w ife; daugh ters, Pam Ruiz o f Banks, and Sandy W allace of H illsboro; five grandchil dren; a niece and nephews.
