The INDEPENDENT, Ju ly 21, 1999 CAT will administer grant for housing repairs, rehab Housing Preservation Grant funds are available in C olum bia County to help low income hom eowners with critical re pairs for their homes. The zero- interest, deferred paym ent loans may be used for repairs to improve the health and safe ty of the fam ily or preserve the integrity of the structure, such as roof, foundation, plumbing, electrical, windows or energy saving measures. If you are a very low in come hom eowner residing in Colum bia County and would like information regarding the program, call Community Ac tion Team Housing and W eath erization P rogram s at 397- 1675 to request an application to be placed on our waiting list. Very low income is 50-per- cent of the median income for C olum bia County, as estab lished by Section 8 income lim its proportionate to household size. As an example, the in com e limits for a one-person household, is at or below $18,350. For a fam ily of three, it is $23,600. H.O.M.E. is a not-for-profit organization form ed to provide educational sem inars for com munity members who are inter ested in learning about buying a home. “We have been meeting for the past couple of months to establish our goals and objec tives,” said Micki Gettman, a volunteer for H.O.M.E. “This is an exciting project to work on.
