Theft from a vehicle parked at busi ness on Bridge St. Business on Bridge St. reported a hit and run MVA. March 20-Business reported van dalism to equipment parked at WGS. Ju venile responsible for damage made arrangements with owner to pay for re pairs. Same business also reported theft from vehicle. March 23—Danyelle R. Dennis was arrested on a warrant from WCSO; she was transported to Hwy 26 and turned over to WCSO Deputy. Resident of Arkansas Ave. reported theft. March 24-Tagged abandon vehicle for tow; vehicle moved by owner. Report of vandalism from resident on E. Bridge St. March 25-Resident on Riverside Dr. reported vandalism to property, two juveniles interviewed; report sent to Juv. Dept. March 28-Report of vandalism to Grange Hall, two juveniles interviewed; report sent to Juv. Dept. March 29-Resident on E. Bridge reported a burglary. Gene Baska was help less when brakes failed on an Oregon State Police car as he tried to park it in front of, not in, the police station. The three-mile-an-hour impact didn’t trigger the air bag, but did knock a garage door off of City Hall. A memorial service was April 10, in Christ Lutheran Church. Private interment was in Belle Passi Memorial Mausoleum in Wood burn. Mrs. Schmidt was born Dec. 28, 1905, in Harlan County, Ken. Her maiden name was Sullivan. She married George F. Schmidt in 1933; he died in 1992. Mrs. Schmidt moved to Vernonia about 1925 and to Aurora about 1949. She was a homemaker and a member of the church. Mrs. Schmidt was preceded in death by a son, Boyd Ball, in 1936. Survivors include her son, George of Christmas Valley; daughters, Dorothy Lucht of Molalla, Bessie Adams of Harris burg, Wilma Smith of Aurora, Diane Erd man of Eugene and Phyllis Wimer and Suzanne, both of Lebanon; 25 grandchil dren; 52 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great- grandchildren. Remembrances are suggested to the Good Shepherd Home of the West in Cor nelius. Simon Funeral Chapel in Woodburn was in charge of arrangements. ARILENE O. PAOLO Arilene Olive Paolo, 74, died March 29, 1999. A memorial Mass was April 8, in St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church. Disposition was by cremation. Mrs. Paolo was born July 31, 1924, in Silverton and was raised in Oak Grove. Her maiden name was Godon. She graduated from St. Johns High School in Milwaukie. She married Frank Paolo in 1941. Mrs. Paolo was a homemaker and a bookkeeper for Beaver Machine Co. for the past eight years. She was a member of the church. Survivors include her husband; sons, Wayne of Oregon City and Stephen and Roy, both o, Milwaukie; sisters, Duretta Wakefield of Amity, Nadine Geisbers of Banks and Lavonne Tumey of Fairbanks, Alaska; four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Remembrances are suggested to Do- ernbecher Children’s Hospital. Peake Memorial Chapel in Milwaukie was in charge of arrangements. SHIRLEY A. PAULSEN Shirley Arlene Paulsen, 72, Rainier, died April 8, 1999, at St. John Medical Cen ter in Longview. Private vaultside services were April 10 at Woodbine Cemetery in Rainier, with Rev. Steve Berry of Alston’s Corner Assembly of God Church, officiat ing. Mrs. Paulsen was born Sept. 12, 1926, in Vernonia, to John Arthur and Nellie Irene (Ouderkirk) Hudson. She graduated from Rainier High School in 1943. She married Eldon A. Paulson in 1951 at Longview. Mrs. Paulsen had worked for Hallberg’s Grocery Store in Rainier and Smith Tug and Barge. She also worked at Janvrin's Bookkeeping Service and Rainier Manu facturing Co. She had been a member of the Beaver Valley Grange since 1941. Survivors include her husband; daugh ter, Kathi J. Mattinen of Clatskanie; sister, Dorothy Archibald of Rainier, and a grand son, Kirc Mattinen of Clatskanie.
